Welcome to saniblog – the world’s first blog on sanitation!

With the launch of the up-coming International Year of Sanitation 2008 on Wednesday, November 21st 2007, and the World Toilet Day on November 19th, I am very pleased to launch the first blog dedicated to sanitation.

  1. Hi jke,

good idea. Right now the World Toilet Day started here in Brazil. Gonna be an interesting speech on Wednesday by UNSGAB-Chair Prince of Orange…
    Good luck,

  2. I think the saniblog is a great idea. WaterPartners International (www.water.org) is a non-profit working to provide safe and sustainable water solutions, as well as sanitation and hygiene education in the developing world. On their behalf, I wanted to post some additional information about World Toilet Day:

Every year, water and sanitation-related disease kills 1.8 million children – one child every 15 seconds. World Toilet Day, Monday November 19, raises awareness of the more than two billion people without access to basic sanitation in the developing world.

Without access to adequate facilities and hygiene education, open spaces or bodies of water become the primary toilet areas. Children are extremely susceptible to viruses and bacteria, but their risk is easily and dramatically reduced with simple, low-cost toilets. WaterPartners works with groups in South Asia, Africa and Central America to provide access to sanitation and hygiene education. Please check out http://www.water.org for more information about how you can help!
