HELP

Certainly you will manage easily the technique of this blog. To make sure that you cope with posting, I have compiled a short tutorial about how to post (see below). To comment on a post, just press the comment button at the end of each post. Again, don’t hesitate to contact me about technical problems and difficulties under admin [at] this domain.

How to register and create a post:

1. Go to the front page and click on “Register” under the META section.

2. Enter a desired username and your e-mail address and press the “Register” button.
Note: your e-mail address will only be used for the registration process and for any communication between you and the system. A password will then be sent to this e-mail address.

3. After hitting the “Register” button, you’ll be shown the following message “Registration complete. Please check your e-mail”. Cool!

What are you waiting for? Check your e-mail! ….and use the received password to login on saniblog.org. :-)

For security reasons, all new users are automatically set to the “contributor” level. Meaning: you can’t do anything besides of accessing the backpanel. But fear not - I (the admin) will unlock this and manually set you on an “author” level so that you can edit your own posts.

4. Once you’re in and your status set as “author”, you’ll be able to see this panel.
Please also note the blue arrow which hightlights a small “notes” field on the frontpage of the backend. This is where I’ll be putting announcements for other authors. In case you have any idea or input, and would like to share it with the admin and other authors, this is the best place to do so.

Ok, now….you’ve got an interesting story to write about? Just hit the WRITE button on the top menu!

5. Ok now this is the editor where you’ll be able to edit your post and even format it with some basic formatting tools (check the icons in the editors menu bar). Simply fill in the blanks beginning with an appropiate title and then write the post into the window below. You can even copy and paste a text from a word document. Doesn’t that sound sweet?

Please note that the editing of categories is not yet possible. If you think we should add another category, just put this on the post itself. Also, to classify posts into “categories” is a bit old-fashioned. You’re much better off using tags to describe your post (3-7 tags / post will do) as these “tags” will also appear as a so-called “tag cloud” on the front page.

When you are done, click Publish below the post entry window and your post will be visible on the blog.

Some advice for bloggers:
A) Don´t forget to add some tags to your post in the last line. With the help of the tags the readers can find your post more easily. Tags should be related to the content of the post or give an idea of what the post is about. Seen the “tag cloud” on the front page? Well, this is where all tags are going to…

B) If you are supposed to post a really long article, what you should have considered properly before posting, it would be better to split your article in two parts. The first part appears in the blog’s main page, while the second part only appears if the reader presses the link “Read rest of the entry”.

C) The same action is strongly recommended with photos or videos. Post a text break, split you article and then publish photos or videos into the second part. This is important for users without a stable or a very slow connection to the internet and will increase their pleasure in using the blog.

D) Another good idea is to refer to a link or an internet page with further information. You can either add a link or hyperlink a word, phrase, etc.. Unfortunately, very long links can destroy the architecture of the blog (word press is trying hard to solve this problem). To avoid this kind of problem, it´s recommendable to hyperlink words. Just mark the relevant word or phrase and hyperlink it with the “insert/edit link” icon in the tool bar.

6. Once your post is saved, you’ll see this message above “Post saved. View post..”

That’s it!

Additionally, you may want to edit your profile so that we know who you are. Again, your e-mail address won’t be visible to anyone else except to me (the admin) and you. Also, you may want to be featured on the up-coming “authors” page (but this is just on a voluntarily basis).

Blogging is lot’s of fun and really helps to enhance communication between those who want to know and share knowledge. In case you want to remain anonymous - no problem!
